Instant Replay

The desktop app keeps a rolling buffer in the background. Press a hotkey and the last 1–20 minutes of microphone and per-app audio save as a private recording in the library. From there you can transcribe it, clip it with captions, and watch it with everyone else on the server.

The buffer is already running

You do not start a recording after the moment happens. Instant Replay is already capturing. A keypress saves the window you set — default two minutes, adjustable from 1 to 20.

Compared with Medal

Medal’s hotkey writes a short overlay clip (15 seconds to 10 minutes) to a social feed. Record Taker’s save is a session in the library. Discord is per speaker here; Medal records Discord as one app mix.

On Paid server plans

Instant Replay is included on Paid and Premium server plans, not the free tier. See pricing for the full split, including live captions on Premium.

Questions

What is Instant Replay in Record Taker?

A desktop rolling buffer. A hotkey saves the last 1–20 minutes of microphone and per-app audio as a private recording in the server library.

Is Instant Replay like Medal?

Same idea — save after it happened with a hotkey. Medal posts an overlay clip to a social feed. Record Taker saves into the library with transcripts, captions, and per-speaker Discord.

Do I need OBS for Instant Replay?

No. Record Taker does not need a replay buffer or scene collection. Use OBS if you want a custom stream layout; Instant Replay still saves into the library.
